We're loving her already

Newcomer Celia Daniels made her entrance into Emmerdale on Monday night (June 30).

She means business and has made it quite clear she won’t stand for any nonsense. And we’re already a huge fan.

Here’s why we reckon she’s just what the soap needs to take it to the next level!

Emmerdale newcomer Celia Daniels 1. Putting farming back at the forefront

Gone are the days when we saw lots of farming take place in the Dales, with the soap dropping ‘farm’ from its name in 1989.

Most of the farming nowadays is done up on Moira’s farm but with Celia’s arrival, it’s nice to see more being integrated into the soap.

And, Celia’s very proud of her farm and is a woman on a mission to expand her empire. She’s already after Moira’s land and has made it clear to Paddy that no trespassers are allowed on her fields. And, we’re only three days into her scenes.

There’s so much more to come and we’re all here for it!

2. Female villain

Over the past year, a concerning amount of female characters have either left the village or have been killed off.

Instead, a number of male villains seem to have taken over the village, with the likes of John Sugden and Joe Tate causing havoc.

Don’t get us wrong, we’re loving watching the drama unfold with these characters but we’ve been longing for more female villagers to make their mark. And, not only has a new female character been introduced, she looks set to be a villain that other villagers shouldn’t mess with. A refreshing twist that we’re eager to see play out.

3. Strong woman with Kim Tate energy

We love strong women in Emmerdale. Kim Tate‘s always been a fan favourite, for her no nonsense attitude. Nobody messes with her and her empire.

And, we think that Celia could just be the modern day version of Kim. And, we’re longing for the pair to team up as some point too. But, then again, perhaps that clash of personalities could also make for explosive drama too. Either way, in our seats with the popcorn.

Emmerdale newcomer Celia Daniels 4. Fresh face with impact

Sometimes, when soaps introduce new characters, they seem to have little point or purpose. But, in the very short time Celia’s been on screen, she’s establishing herself within the soap.

She’s already caused huge impact after a dog on her land attacked poor Paddy, and she’s made an enemy out of Moira too.

There’s a lot of potential for the character, and some exciting storylines too!
