Ray Walters and Celia Daniels are responsible for tearing the Dingle-Goskirks apart in more ways than one – and tonight’s Emmerdale proves once again how much power they hold.

The evil mother and son are indirectly responsible for forcing another character to leave the village. But will they really go?

*WARNING: Emmerdale spoilers about Ray and Celia for the Tuesday December 16 episode which has not aired on ITV, but is already available on ITVX and YouTube.

Ray and Celia are controlling everything in Emmerdale

Things are not good for Marlon and Rhona right now after repeated failed attempts to get rid of Ray and Celia. The pair are living on their nerves after Dylan woke up and lied to the police he didn’t remember anything about his accident.

And then Mary returned from her retreat on Monday December 15 and Rhona knew that was bad news. With Mary’s journalistic background she is prone to asking probing questions.

As Rhona and Marlon played down Dylan’s accident, Mary could see something was off. But fear of Ray and Celia made Rhona clam up – which only made Mary even more curious.

Rhona orders Mary to leave

In tonight’s episode Marlon and Rhona are still very concerned about Ray’s presence. When Rhona sees Ray smoozing Mary, she flips and orders him away. She also tells her mum to stay away from him. She says she doesn’t trust him and Mary is immediately suspicious.

Marlon and Rhona know Mary is not going to stop asking questions, but they also know they can’t tell her the truth. So Rhona realises the only option is to get rid of Mary for good.

Mary is soon grilling Rhona for answers over what is going on. But Rhona knows what she has to do and tells her mum they need space. She tells her it’s too crowded and she must move out.

Mary won’t go quietly though and insists she knows there’s more to this. She doesn’t believe Rhona’s lies and loses her temper. Mary wants to know exactly what’s going on.

In a bid to protect her mother, Rhona lashes out and tells her she’s overbearing and they are sick of her. Rhona orders her to go and Mary is distraught. She says she’ll be out by the morning and Rhona knows she may have destroyed her relationship with her mum for good.

Where will Mary go? And will she and Rhona ever be able to repair things?
