EI split: Liam suspicious / John sympathetic in Emmerdale

After last night’s huge reveal about John Sugden, Emmerdale fans are convinced that Liam is already onto him.

As last night (April 10) revealed that John did kill Nate and drug Chas, we’re finally getting to see his true colours. It appears that he gets a thrill of bringing someone close to death, just to be the hero and make them better. And while it worked on Jacob, the same can’t be said for Nate.

While Liam seemed to be glad John was there to save Jacob, and even retracted his formal warning, some fans can’t help but think he may already be suspecting that there is something more sinister happening.

What happened with John?

Fans have been fearing that Liam will be getting killed off for quite a while. First, he had that bash to his head during the limo crash. And then he hit his head again when Ella pushed him.

But then John made a mistake at work, misdiagnosing Kerry, and Dr Cavanagh was absolutely fuming. And to make it even worse, when John didn’t seem sympathetic, he gave him a formal warning. And told him he was going over his cases.

But John wasn’t going to give up that easily, and he knew formed a plan. Aware of Jacob’s severe nut allergy, John sent him to get coffees, one with almond milk. And while Jacob was out of the room, he swapped the stickers so that Jacob would drink his. And then stole his EpiPen.

When Jacob went into anaphylactic shock, John was quick on the case, saving his life. And so, when Liam arrived, John looked like the hero and the formal warning was retracted.

But was Liam just doing that to get John on his side? And does he actually already suspect John could be a killer? Here’s why Emmerdale fans think John has been caught out by Liam.

Could Liam suspect John is a killer?

Taking to X, one viewer suggested: “Liam knows what’s going on with John and he is biding his time.”

Another penned: “I really thought Liam had realised John orchestrated the whole thing..”

This was backed up, by a third user: “I suspected that too. Maybe he is playing the long game? A dangerous game to play though.”

It wouldn’t be the first time Liam had missed some killer moves. He didn’t know Meena had killed his daughter Leanna for quite some time. With John on track to potentially be an even better villain than her, we would hope Liam might catch on a bit quicker.

And he already pointed out that John got extremely angry over the Kerry situation, so perhaps he began to suspect him then. And with the timing of Jacob’s collapse, it really does look like John was trying to make himself look good.

However, if he does know and John finds out, then those fears for Liam’s life could be on the right track. Because something tells us John will stop at nothing to keep his secrets – and to look like the good guy while doing so.
