In Emmerdale spoilers for tonight, May 1, Steph Miligan enters meltdown mode and Cain makes a decision.
It’s been a tough few months for Steph, but it looks like she is about to hit breaking point – and it’s Ross in the firing line.
Elsewhere, reeling from the call with Nate’s phone, Cain Dingle makes a decision to finally get answers about his son’s whereabouts.

1. Steph loses control in Emmerdale spoilers
Steph is devastated her surgery did not go ahead as planned on Wednesday (April 30). She was about to go under the knife when Caleb and Ruby burst in. Having worked out her plans, they were determined to stop her. The surgeon then refused to go ahead when Caleb revealed the truth about Ruby’s rape and why Steph hates her face so much.
But unbeknownst to Caleb and Ruby, Steph on the phone planning another surgery as soon as her back was turned. She brought her appointment for a brow lift forward.
Steph is feeling no better when she wakes up and after asking for some alone time, she proceeds to smash the kitchen up. In complete meltdown, her distress and desperation is clear.
Ross soon finds out she has not gone on holiday at all. He rushes round to find out what’s going on and finds her in a state. Can he get through to her?
2. Steph lashes out at Ross
Distraught over what’s happening to Steph, Ross tries to console her. But as she explains her feelings to him, she then snaps – lashing out at him.
Ross doesn’t leave though, and instead stands through the abuse thrown his way until she snaps out of it.
Again, Ross does his best to be there for her, but Steph becomes full of guilt over what she said to him. With her self-loathing on over-drive, Steph grabs a bottle of vodka and runs out. Will anyone get through to her?
3. Cain makes a decision
Cain tells Moira about the strange phone call with Nate, and she is absolutely gutted for him. Trying to find a way to help, she encourages him to not give up on Nate.
When Cain visits Tracy, he is gutted to realise she doesn’t have Nate’s new number and that he really did abandon his family. He spends some time with Frankie and makes the decision to go to Shetland to find his son.
4. John panics in Emmerdale spoilers
Still annoyed with himself over the phone call mistake, John Sugden’s troubles only get worse when he goes to check in on Tracy.
When he is there, she fills him in on Cain’s decision to find Nate – and he is immediately nervous.
Will John put a stop to Cain’s plans? Or is the truth close to coming out?
5. Billy panics
Billy panics and blames himself when Evan is taken into hospital. And while he is riddled with guilt, Dawn tries to make him see that it wasn’t his fault leaving him comforted by her support.
