What happened in Emmerdale on Thursday: Jacob and Kammy raced to win Sarah’s affections and John wants revenge on Mack
Mack should watch his back.
In Emmerdale tonight (Thursday, April 24), Jacob and Kammy went ahead with their dirt bike race against Sarah’s wishes.
Elsewhere, John Sugden tried to defend himself to Aaron, before setting his sights on Mack. What is he planning?
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale’s hour long episode on Thursday.

Emmerdale does Grease
Despite Sarah Sugden believing she’d put an end to the dirt race idea, Kammy and Jacob decided to go ahead with it.
As Charity and Sam tried to buoy Jacob up, Cain arrived and told Charity he was backing Kammy to win. Charity was annoyed that Cain was siding with the enemy, but Cain insisted: “He’s not MY enemy.” Cain and Charity then wagered £150 on their respective riders.
In a scene straight out of classic film Grease, the two riders got under way, with Charity doing her best Cha-Cha impression by seeing the boys off with the help of her scarf.
For a while, it was neck and neck, but Kammy’s experience soon shone through and Jacob crashed – sending him flying through the air.
Kammy went back to help, but Jacob immediately sent him away. Kammy didn’t need telling twice, as he went on his way and cruised to victory.
Cain couldn’t hide his smugness as he took Charity’s money. Kammy asked if he can have half. When Cain said no, Kammy insisted it wasn’t fair. Cain responded that neither was baldness “but there’s a lot of men without hair”. That’s Kammy told, we guess…

Sarah was angry… but not with Jacob
As Sarah confided in Vanessa about her dilemma of being stuck between two men, she was oblivious to the ongoing race.
Vanessa had Sarah write a pros and cons list for both Jacob and Kammy. But the results were inconclusive, as Vanessa informed Sarah it was a tie, so “they’re both as bad as each other” and “both as good as each other.” Helpful.
Sarah admitted she felt overwhelmed by the decision as she “can’t afford to get it wrong” due to her condition. Vanessa then spotted a photo online of Sam with Jacob at the race, prompting Sarah to rush to the scene.
She arrived at the finish line just in time to see Kammy win. She was not amused by his victory though and told him the whole race thing was cringe.
However, when she went to find Jacob, she softened her stance and listed as he spoke about his mum. “I could have ended up dead like my mum,” he told her. He then spoke about how he always thinks about how his mum was alone when she died. “I try and shut it down, get it out of my head, but In that split second when I came off the bike, I didn’t know what was happening, it’s like everything just stood still. And it all came rushing back to me.”
Sarah and Jacob also spoke about their break up and reached an understanding. However, Kammy had come to find Sarah, but he walked away after seeing Sarah and Jacob sharing a hug. Will Sarah choose Jacob?

John tried to appeal to Aaron
Aaron didn’t understand why John hadn’t tried to talk to him and told Mack that John must be spineless. Mack admitted that John had tried to see him but he’d sent him away.
Aaron was angry at Mack, telling him it wasn’t his decision to make. Mack rightfully pointed out that John has multiple red flags over his head and that he just wanted to protect Aaron. He told Aaron he thought John would pull the classic “this is my truth” line.
Mystic Mack was spot on. After a word from Victoria, Aaron decided to hear John out. John said: “Aidan didn’t die. But I pretty much killed him… in my own mind. That is what I had to do to get my life back. I had to tell myself everyday that he was dead so I wouldn’t spend every moment praying that he would wake up.”
When Aaron said he still didn’t understand why John didn’t just tell him the truth, John responded: “Because this is my truth.”
Aaron was concerned that Aidan Moore could wake up thinking he is still engaged to John. But John decided to turn it around and ask if Aaron was still in love with Robert. Don’t open that can of worms, John.
With Aaron having “more than second thoughts” about marrying John, will the wedding go ahead?

Mack is in danger
As viewers know, John is pretty unhinged. He identified his next victim in Thursday’s episode and it’s bad news for Mack.
John told Victoria that he was sure Mack had never liked him, so no doubt he was loving this turn of events.
Later, despite claiming he would not be visiting Aidan any more, John was at his bedside once again. He told him: “You just had to stay alive, didn’t you? There isn’t a moment of any day I don’t wish you were dead. You know, right now, someone else needs putting out of their misery. That’ll be my friend Mack. He’s gonna find out what happens when people push me that little bit too hard.”
Given that Mack has previously been close to death about 187 times, we think he’ll probably be alright.

Vinny and Gabby got engaged
Vinny was still struggling with being alone with Gabby’s son Thomas. Sensing something was up, Gabby asked Vinny what the problem was. Vinny blurted out: “I don’t want to be a dad.”
In The Hide, a confused Gabby told Mandy and Laurel what had happened. Mandy told Gabby about Vinny’s fears of turning into his own abusive dad.
Gabby went to talk to Vinny in the cabin and managed to talk him down. As Vinny informed Gabby that he wants a future with her and Thomas, he suddenly suggested they get married. So romantic, Vin…
Gabby was taken aback at first and told Vinny it had taken her a while to get past what Jamie and Nicky had done to her. But she agreed to marry him.
When they informed Mandy and Laurel of their news, however, neither woman appeared happy by the news – perhaps they have also spotted the lack of chemistry between Gabby and Vinny too?
Elsewhere in Emmerdale on Thursday
Things were awkward between Billy and Dawn when he came to pick the kids up to take them to school. Clemmie was also struggling and Dawn later received a call from the school to go pick her up.
As she blurted out to Dawn that Billy didn’t love them any more, Dawn was at a loss over what to do. Joe then came up with the worst solution in the world by offering to talk to Clemmie… Yeah, best not, eh Joe.
