Emmerdale follow-up: John ‘to target’ Cain next as spoilers reveal his mistake could cost him big
Is Cain in danger?
As the list of his crimes gets longer in Emmerdale, it looks like Cain Dingle could be the next target for John.
Spoilers for upcoming episodes reveal John makes a costly error, which will require him to act quickly if he wants to keep his Nate secret buried… literally.
With Cain insisting on searching for Nate, is he putting a target on his own back?

What happened to Nate in Emmerdale?
Last year, Nate was offered a job in Shetland. Initially, Tracy and Frankie had planned on joining him but Tracy backtracked after wrongly believing Nate was having an affair with Moira.
Nate’s exit was never actually shown on screen, it was just assumed that he had gone off to Shetland. Tracy later received a text from Nate’s phone, telling her not to contact him.
However, in February, Amy Barton came face-to-face with Nate’s body while submerged underneath the water following the devastating limo crash.
She sadly died before she could communicate what she had seen, but viewers later discovered how Nate had ended up there.
Earlier this month, Emmerdale aired a special episode focusing on John Sugden and his various crimes. One of which was killing Nate, albeit accidentally.
It was revealed that John came across Nate following his fight with Cain over Moira. John, who appears to suffer from a hero complex, offered to help Nate with his injuries, but he took it too far.
In an attempt to make things look worse and have people believe he had saved Nate’s life, John injected Nate with a sedative. Tragically, Nate had a reaction to the sedative and he died, leaving John to dispose of Nate’s body in the lake.

Cain is John’s next ‘target’
After Tracy shows Cain a birthday card that Frankie made for Nate, Cain calls his son and leaves a voicemail for him.
Later, John listens to the voicemail, but he panics when Nate’s phone receives another call and he accidentally answers it. John hears Cain voice on the other end and quickly cuts the call.
But when John sees Cain leaving another voicemail for Nate, he realises he has another fire to put out.
Cain chats with Moira and she encourages him not to give up on Nate. After spending some time with Frankie, Cain announces to Tracy that he is going to Shetland to track down Nate.
Later, John visits Tracy to check up on her, but he’s nervous when he discovers that Cain is determined to find Nate.
How will he stop Cain discovering his secret?
