A new Emmerdale fan theory has predicted that John Sugden will end up in prison for his crimes… where he’ll end up with brother Robert as his cell mate.

John’s been steadily racking up the crimes since arriving in the village, killing Nate (albeit accidentally), drugging both Chas and Jacob (one with actual drugs, the other with nut milk) and assaulting his boss. It’s only a matter of time before he faces some kind of retribution for his wrongdoing, and that may well include jail time.

And you know who else is currently in prison? Why, none other than his half-brother (and his fiancée’s ex-husband) Robert.

John (or Billy) to end up cell mates with Robert, Emmerdale fan theory predicts

Writing on social media this week, fans of Emmerdale shared their theories as to what the future might hold for John. And one wondered whether he could be set on a collision cause with Jack Sudgen’s other biological son, Robert.

“What if Billy is charged for whatever happens to Joe and his cellmate is Mr Sugden. And I don’t mean John. Or John shares a cell with Robert,” wrote one fan on X.

Might John end up coming face-to-face with Robert?

Where is Robert, anyway?

Robert is currently serving time in prison for murdering his sister’s rapist, Lee Posner. He and husband Aaron were torn apart when he was sentenced to 14 years in prison for manslaughter. The pair tried to make their marriage work, but ultimately split when Robert was transferred to the Isle of Wight.

He hasn’t been seen on the soap for six years now, during which time Aaron met and fell in love with Jack’s secret son, John. However, fans haven’t let go of Robron, and have long been clamouring for a reunion between the couple.

That’s an unlikely prospect for now, unless new evidence comes to light, or he stages some kind of prison break, but with John and Aaron’s upcoming nuptials looking ever more doomed, we wouldn’t count Robert out just yet.
