Emmerdale's Joe serious

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale (Thursday, May 8) saw many suspects come together for Lydia’s party which sparked off a huge whodunnit for Joe Tate.

But, as Joe was pushed out of the window… whodunnit? Here are all of the main suspects and their motives.

1. Clemmie

Clemmie was ‘in bed’ during the party but she returned back downstairs to see the fallout from the night, with Billy being upset over Joe and Dawn’s affair becoming public knowledge.

Worried that she’d be sent into care, and also blaming Joe for destroying her family, did Clemmie wake up and push Joe? It would have to be quite some push from a child!

2. Billy

Billy suffered public humiliation tonight as Charity exposed Joe and Dawn’s affair to everyone at the party.

Kim then told Billy that it was best if he left, with Billy filling Dawn in on Joe’s threats to Clemmie.

He then said that Dawn was welcome to Joe, and left Home Farm. But, did he return to push his wife’s lover through the window?

Dawn was all loved up with Joe by the start of the episode but after her affair was exposed to the party guests, she soon found out that Joe had threatened Clemmie.

Dawn would do anything for her kids (or so she kids herself), so could she have confronted Joe and been responsible for his downfall? (No pun intended). She was the last to be seen in Joe’s room with him, after all.

4. Ruby

Ruby didn’t seem to riled up this evening, sticking to the truce between the Tates and her own family. She preferred to stand back and watch others go in for Joe instead.

Despite leaving with the rest of the guests, could she have returned to get revenge on Joe for stealing her husband’s kidney?

5. Caleb

Caleb also made out that he was sticking to the whole truce, keeping his lips sealed when Matty questioned whether Joe took his kidney.

He seemed to be letting the police deal with the matter… But, was this all an act to remove him from the suspects list?

6. Noah

Noah turned up at the party just after the police, having reported that Joe had spiked him.

He told Charity that he wanted to do things ‘the proper way,’ but could this have meant that he wanted to finish the job off himself?

Charity obviously wanted revenge on Joe tonight, being very protective of Noah.

She drugged his drink but it seemed that this plan had failed when Joe put his drink down as the police rocked up.

But, could Charity then have snuck into Joe’s room and turned to Plan B instead?

Kerry very conveniently found herself amongst the party guests this evening, arriving as Pollard’s plus one. And, this meant that she found out that Joe had spiked Noah… and had caused the limo crash that killed daughter Amy as a result.

While Kerry went home with Pollard and Matty afterwards, it’s no secret that she wanted Joe dead…

9. Cain

Cain struggled to stick to the truce over Caleb’s kidney theft, with Matty begging him to speak up and reminding him that Joe had killed Amy – Kyle’s mum.

But, was Cain’s calm exterior hiding a front for his anger? Was he plotting his revenge in that moment?

10. Pollard

Pollard also went home with Kerry and Matty, but he was very clearly shocked to hear that Leyla’s death was all down to Joe.

Pollard very nearly didn’t attend the party, but was it just a coincidence that Joe fell through a window when he was there?

11. Matty

Again, despite heading back home after the party, Matty has a strong motive. Despite not being an ‘official’ suspect, he was devastated to learn that Joe’s actions had led to his wife Amy’s death.

Did Matty’s love for Amy see him attempt to finish Joe off?

Emmerdale Joe whodunnit suspect 12. Manpreet

Manpreet confronted Joe this evening as the cogs started to whirr in her head. Hearing about Noah’s spiking and the whole kidney business, Manpreet hoped she wasn’t caught up in all of Joe’s schemes.

Joe told her that she should stay quiet if she knew what was good for her… But, instead of staying quiet herself, did she try to silence Joe? Is she about to take after serial killer sister, Meena?

13. Chas

Chas found out about Caleb’s kidney theft this evening, with her emotions obviously bound to be very high over the whole thing.

With the news being fresh to her, did she head back to Home Farm to get her revenge instead of waiting around for the police to lock Joe up?
