'Where is Lydia?' Emmerdale viewers ‘baffled’ over why Lydia missed her birthday party

Emmerdale may have had an entire party dedicated to Lydia Dingle, but she didn’t feature once. And fans are confused.

It was the beginning of the Joe Tate whodunnit last night, as one of his enemies pushed him out of a window. Who did it and if Joe survives remains to be seen, but one key character was missing from the whole episode.

Earlier in the week, Sam Dingle promised Kim that Lydia would be home in time for the party. But she wasn’t. And nobody understands why.

Where is Lydia in Emmerdale?

To celebrate Lydia’s birthday, Kim Tate decided to throw her best friend a Home Farm party. And while that’s usually a fun occasion, last night proved otherwise.

At the end of the night, Joe was pushed out of a window. But who did it isn’t the only question fans have. They all want to know why Lydia missed her party.

Of course, it was a surprise party, so she didn’t know she was actually missing anything.

Lydia hasn’t been in the village in recent days and she was finally heading home when she began having car troubles.

Sam informed all the attendees on what happened with Lydia’s car, but nobody seemed that bothered that she wasn’t there – and the party went on without her. But fans were, and they wanted to know why the episode couldn’t have worked the same way with Lydia in attendance.

Fans ‘baffled’ by Lydia’s absence

Taking to social media, viewers demanded to know why Lydia missed her party, with everyone agreeing it was a ‘bizarre’ move.

One wrote: “I don’t care about who pushed Joe. I’m more concerned about where Lydia was at her own birthday party. That girl was nowhere to be seen??”

Another added: “The true winner of this party is Lydia because imagine being so iconic that your 50th party will be forever talked about and you weren’t even there.”

“Can someone explain to me why Lydia isn’t even at her own 50th??” a third questioned.

Another fan wondered if Lydia actress Karen Blick fell ill right before the episodes and instead, Emmerdale had to rework it to have the party without her.

They wrote: “Did Karen Blick have the biggest illness ever for her to miss filming and not even appear once in Lydia’s own 50th birthday party?”

However, another thinks Lydia’s absence wasn’t actually down to car troubles, and instead she may have arrived and pushed Joe herself.

“And the culprit is… Lydia. Because where was she??” they wrote on X.

Emmerdale usually airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, with an early release at 7am on ITVX.
