EI split pic: Joe Tate worried / Joe suspect list in Emmerdale

Emmerdale may have released a lineup of suspects for the Joe Tate whodunnit, but it seems the majority of people think it was someone else entirely.

Last night (May 8) history seemed to repeat itself as Joe Tate was pushed out of a Home Farm window. And it was eerily similar to Tom King’s plunge in 2006.

Emmerdale confirmed that it would mark the beginning of a whodunnit storyline. And let’s face it, Joe has quite a lot of enemies who would have loved to push him. But while the official suspect list featured quite a lot of them, it could still be someone else.

When the storyline was announced, an ominous photo of Joe’s enemies was released – confirming who would want revenge.

The photo included, Kerry, Ruby, Caleb, Cain, Charity, Noah, Dawn, Billy and Clemmie. Over the last few months all of these characters have had some sort of run-in with Joe. And all have a very good reason for wanting him dead.

But in an exclusive poll by Emmerdale Insider, 24.3% of viewers believe that it was nobody from the suspect lineup. And that there will be a shock “twist” from the soap.

If that’s the case, then who could it be? Well after last night’s episode, a lot of fans are looking at Matty Barton.

One viewer wrote on X: “I think Matty did it. He wants revenge for Amy.”

Matty has the same motive as Kerry, but yet he isn’t in the suspect list. And when the truth came out that Joe drugged Noah which led to the limo crash, Matty wanted him to pay for Amy’s death.

While the vast majority think it’s someone else, Clemmie is still one of the main suspects with 15.95% of the votes going to her.

For a while Noah Dingle has been the fan-favourite to push Joe, and it seems he still isn’t far behind. He was the one to call the police on his brother after he found out about the spiking. And while he told Charity that he wanted to get justice the proper way, when he realised the police believed Joe, did he take his own revenge? Well, 12.66% of the votes went to him.

Least likely suspects

In contrast, at the very bottom of the suspects list is Ruby Miligan.

While she wouldn’t want to risk the secrets about Anthony getting out, only 3.29% of fans think she would strike against Joe.

And right above her is Dawn Fletcher. She may have just discovered what Joe had lied to her about, and how he threatened Clemmie, but it seems Emmerdale fans still can’t see her pushing him out of the window. Only 4.81% of voters think she was the culprit.

In order to find out who it was, Emmerdale fans will have to wait and see how it plays out.
